“As Solihull foster carers, we have ongoing, quality training and regular support from our supervising social worker”
We aim to place in-house first
We match children in-house first, before consulting other fostering agencies.
As part of Solihull Council, we always look to our own team of foster carers first to provide home matches for children and young people.
This means that our foster carers are more likely to have shorter waits between a child leaving their care and another being matched with them. It also means that you’re more likely to be matched with a child in your preferred age range.
Why you should transfer to us
Support to help you when times get tough
There may be times where you need additional support from our team. Your personal Social Worker and our wider fostering community will be there to support you every step of the way, plus we have a whole host of support resources and regular training classes to help you if things get tough.
Although our team will do everything they can to prevent a placement from breaking down, in some cases a child’s home match with you may be disrupted. We know this will be a difficult time for both you and the children in your care. Both the foster carer and the child will have a dedicated team around them to make sure the transition is as smooth and positive as possible. We will also speak with you to identify and learn from the positive work you have achieved.

We know how important it is for foster carers like you to feel rested, respected and ready to look after children. We have no limit on our respite leave allowance.

All foster carers sometimes need a break. As a large fostering agency we are able to provide the necessary care to your foster child so you can take that break and recharge your batteries.
How easy is it to transfer to us?
We have made our transfer process as easy and hassle free as possible.
We will aim to do the hard work for you! Right from the start you will speak to an experienced social worker who has helped many foster carers transfer to us. Most of the transfer paperwork will be done by the Foster for Solihull team and we will guide you every step during the process. We will also advise you when you will need to tell your current agency that you wish to transfer to us as well as what documentation you would need.
The speed in which you transfer to us will be dependent on a number of factors. Some carers have transferred to us in as little as 12 weeks but for others the process may be a little longer.
If you would like to start the transfer or find out a little more information about transferring then simply call our team and we would be happy to help.
